Frank joined 837 Squadron at the end of September 1942 at Lee on Solent
having been promoted to Photographer during his time at Crail

837 squadron officially formed for the first time at Palisadoes,
Jamaica in May 1942 as a torpedo bomber reconnaissance Swordfish
squadron, subsequently embarking on HMS Dasher in July 1942 from Floyd
Bennett Field, USA for the UK.

In January 1943 the squadron formed 2 flights, one to HMS Argus for
Gibraltar convoy duties and the other to HMS Dasher to Iceland,
re-assembling at Dunino in late March, subsequently disbanding in June
1943.
