Peter Ashby - a professional photographer, he has accumulated a pretty comprehensive glossary of technical terms.

Photography.about.com also has many excellent references as well, both to camera techniques, photographic techniques as well as famous photographers and types of photography.

Photonhead.com is an excellent site with some very useful interactvie pages, so you can play with apertures and shutter speeds etc.

photozine.com is an excellent web site with lots of useful tecniques and advice, as well as equipment reviews.

Silverlight.co.uk have a wide range of tutorials on photography, including many of the words in the glossaries.

Ted's Photography  is another but probably less well-known site with literally tons of information! This site really is worth exploring in detail.

Telus.net is an excellent Canadian site with tons of information on black and white film and print processing

Wikipedia is a free encyclopedia with excellent if sometimes rather technical definitions.
