Complementary Medicine
incorporating a Cognitive Behavioural-
type Therapy
BARBARA HAMILTON
HOMEOPATHY PLUS ...
Qualified & Registered Homeopath
M.L.C. Hom., M.A.R.H.

Homeopathy has proven to be an effective
alternative, or a complementary, to mainstream
medicine for those who have tried it, and when
combined with a Cognitive Behavioural-type
therapy, it becomes even more dynamic.
Homeopathic counselling is about giving you the
time and space to listen to what is happening or
has happened in your life, and what has had a
profound effect upon your well-being.
Neuro-science has proven that every emotional
trauma lowers the body's resistance to disease.
The homeopathic input will both raise the
immune system to help you overcome any
susceptibility to the common diseases, but also
to assist resolution of more challenging issues.

It is during the consultation that you have the
opportunity to share 'what ails you' and connect
with a deeper, more insightful part of your Self :
that which knows why you are experiencing
physical and/or emotional problems.
Sometimes you will recognise patterns of reaction
to situations and people which may need revising,
or at other times you might recognise it is time to
give yourself 'permission' to change patterns of
reaction

It is not uncommon for people to experience that
'eureka' moment during a session, or whilst on a
Homeopathic remedy, as the consultations aim
towards helping you take responsibility for your
overall health & well-being. This ultimately leads
to self-empowerment as you become less and less
dependent upon external life for your self-esteem.
Homeopaths do not go by ‘disease labels’, but by
taking the totality of the individual symptoms so it
is capable of assisting in all areas of disease. Factors
like our environment and pollution, the genes, or
our inheritance are taken into account also, as it is
clear that small babies are not always as ‘well’ as
they should be at birth or during childhood but
Homeopathy raises both health and well-being.
Patients who have tested this claim can see this as
time passes and the health improves.

All remedies included in the consultation fee are
homoeopathic remedies that I have. However,
occasionally a patient requires different or addi-
tional remedies, which need to be purchased - such
as flower remedies or supplements. These products
can vary in price and are charged out separately.
For further details, or an informal chat, to see if
this therapy suits you, please call the number
overleaf.

What is homeopathy ?
Homeopathy is quite widely practised inside the NHS, which runs many specialist homeopathic
NHS hospitals in Bristol, Liverpool, London and Glasgow. It is widely used to treat children, the elderly, pregnant, and animals, so it isa gentle and completely safe system of holistic healing.

How is it made ?
In preparing the medicine, the animal, vegetable or mineral substance becomes so dilute, it is thought by some scientists to carry just the ‘memory’ of the substance. As a result, the therapy is extremely safe but still found to have the necessary healing effect by stimulating the body’s own healing power.

What conditions can homeopathy treat ?
Potentially any disease can be addressed, including emotional imbalances and mechanical injuries --
even the side-effects of drugs. The added plus is that there are no unwanted drug effects.

What happens when you see a homeopath?
Establishing good health means treating the whole person, so time is taken to listen to what is happening or has happened in life. The more information gathered, the easier it is to choose
the right homeopathic remedy for you. The first appointment usually lasts longer than subsequent visits, as a thorough history of medical complaints, plus an overview of your life in general needs to
be taken.

You may not realise the relevance of some of the questions about your eating and sleeping habits,
which have little to do with the complaint you seek treatment for, but all the lifestyle information will help to form an accurate assessment for the prescription. Your family’s past medical history,
plus your own, plays a vital role in casetaking and so your current complaint(s) and how you experience them are collated to form a ‘picture’ for the homeopath upon which the prescription is made.

One can self-prescribe for acute ailments, but it takes years of training and practice to treat holistically, and the treatment of more long-term conditions is therefore best undertaken by a fully qualified and registered homeopath.

Why Homeopathy Plus ...?
Using a CognitiveBehavioural-type therapy, I can offer you the tools to look at life from a fresh or deeper perspective, as using these two therapies together is very dynamic. My background in counselling means any emotional concerns can also be addressed.

Maintaining health is not about taking or doing one
thing. It involves a commitment on your part too. This is not always easy, but well worth the effort, as I can listen & support you through any obstacles.

Is it cost-effective?
The services industry is the biggest growing sector in the economy, and whilst most women don't think twice about having, say, their hair styled up to 8 x a year at a cost of roughly £30 each, they have traditionally found it harder to put that kind of investment in their health. While at first it may seem costly - if the appointments are frequent - after any dis-ease is properly addressed then the frequency of contact becomes less and less until appointments only occur on an “as needed” basis.
The costing of homeopathic treatment may not be obvious to the patient, but the time taken researching in homeopathic literature, and then making up prescriptions for mailing, are time-intensive and, like any other skilled professional, you are paying for a Homeopath’s time and thorough training.

Appointments with a Homeopath are usually
readily available, and take up to one & a half
hours, sometimes more.

All consultations and medical records are
completely confidential and governed by a strict
Code of Ethics laid down by the Alliance of
Registered Homeopaths.

Is it safe in the long-term ?
Homeopathy is complementary to allopathy and
has no unwanted effects. It is not a ‘placebo’
effect or the many children or animals would not
respond so beautifully, and those who have seen
what it can do, readily turn to homeopathy for
help with their own or their family’s health.
The knock-on effect of treatment is that the
health and energy improves and it becomes
noticeable over time that you become less
susceptible to the common ailments.

- My background -
I originate from the Channel Islands [where I still practise
too, visting quarterly]. I initially studied with the most
highly-rated college: The School of Homeopathy in Devon.
Gaining the Foundation Course certificates, I then
trained with a member of the College of Practical
Homeopathy whilst practising and gaining my clinical
hours at the Lakeland Clinic in Norwich.
I finished my training in London by becoming a
Graduate of The Lakeland College of Homeopathy, &
gained full registration from the Alliance of

I treat many families, and also have many years experience
in behavioural/psychological adjuncts. I also attended
the RELATE induction training programme.
