CHOOSING
THE RIGHT HOMEOPATHIC REMEDY
Homeopathy
has is no remedy for a diagnosis;
only remedies for symptoms.
In homeopathy we
are not looking for symptoms that are common to a diagnosis
but for symptoms that are different and individual - we
are not trying to explain the condition but to find a remedy
for it by matching
the specific characteristics of the patient's symptoms
to the specific characteristics of the remedy.
To find the remedy which
will be homeopathic we take note of the patient's
particular and individual symptoms in
their every aspect - we are
not concerned with taking a set of symptoms and applying
a diagnosis but of building a 'symptom picture' which we
can then match to a 'remedy picture'. Of course a diagnosis
may help to understand the condition but there can be many
different symptom pictures for one diagnosis, which means
any remedy could fit one diagnosis, so diagnosis is largely
irrelevant for purposes of finding the homeopathic remedy.
The best known aspects
of a remedy are called
Keynotes:
these can include the mental/emotional and/or physical symptoms,
plus modalities and causations. Remedies are most often
prescribed for first-aid just on Keynotes;
so one of the easiest ways to start learning remedies is
to learn their keynotes.
To differentiate
between possible remedies we refer to their Modalities
and/or
the causation
which, if known, can greatly reduce the time needed to find
a remedy. Additionally
the mood or other mental
symptoms are important (e.g. fears) that go with the ailment,
(knowing the emotional or psychological component
of any illness is one of the easiest ways to differentiate
between remedies, even though the main complaint may be
a physical one),
In
homeopathy special
attention is paid to observing specifics of the symptoms
which with experience becomes second nature.
Finding
the remedy may sound complicated when you first come
to use homeopathy but it's just a different way of thinking
and once you grasp it, it becomes easy so do persevere!
