Lunar Eclipse, 4 May 2004

The low altitude of the Moon during the early part of totality and the later cloud and occasional rain showers prevented photography until after totality had ended (at approximately 21:07 UT). These images were obtained during brief breaks in the cloud thereafter:

Lunar eclipse image at 21:20 UT Cropped from a 2M pixel image, with gamma increased to 1.92 to bring out umbral shadow, and resampled to 40% in size. Obtained at 21:20 UT. 150 mm F/6 'scope, 25 mm Plössl eyepiece, Fujifilm Finepix A405 camera held afocally - causing slight camera shake.
