Art Exhibitions

The first painting exhibition took place in 1959, when some friends of the college bought it a painting called ‘The old orchard’ by Mervyn Roe, a local artist and former student of the college.

Now in its 48th year, the event has become a regular feature of the spring half term break and contains almost 400 works by local artists in a wide variety of materials and styles.  Until recently the organisers have invited a member of the local community to select a painting for the college art collection, which includes sketches by Henry Moore and Graham Sutherland.

Here are some examples of works purchased for the College. Click on the picture to see a larger version.

Barbara Booth: Wild flowers of East Anglia

Richard Jakins: Cambridge Scene

Peter Stanley: Untitled

All the exhibits are for sale and commission on the sales is used to support the work of the college.
