Midsummer Ball

In 2008, whilst the ball season was taking the University colleges by storm, we decided to join in the fun by staging our first Midsummer Ball on Saturday the 14th of June. 120 guests arrived in their best outfits to enjoy a buffet supper and dance the night away. A team of sixth form students  helped us to greet and serve the guests.

For the evening the school prom and Gropius Hall were transformed into a wonderland of flowing material, fancy lights, water fountains and flowers. The fabulous Eye Band, with its brass section and three singers, kept the dancers on their feet with material ranging from Chuck Berry to Bryan Ferry, the Zutons and the Stones.

For those wanting a break from the dance floor, the Carnegie Room became a piano bar with Tom Brookes and Felix Hain providing a relaxed musical background.

In 2009 we did it again with the same cast and a bigger set. For 2010 we need an organising committee with lots of energy and a few surprising new ideas.
