CA3080E Transconduct ance Amplifier £1.50 each (27 available)

These are new Harris CA3080E transconductance amplifiers as used in many vintage analogue sythesisers, in standard 8-pin DIL package which I originally purchased in bulk from Farnell some years ago, before the end of production by Harris/Intersil. These parts have the original "H" Harris logo, and are marked CA3080E H9845, the latter part of which the true experts might be able to identify the manufacturing date from. The "E" suffix refers to the standard 0 to 70 Celsius guaranteed operating temperature range with standard 2:1 gM spread between any two devices.
These have been stored in the original anti-static tube as delivered from Farnell and will be handled under anti-static bench conditions and despatched in anti-static packaging, suitably armoured and inside a standard padded bag.
As also used to excess in my Hammond Organ Emulator Design, the device can be used as a current controlled gain element at audio frequencies and up to 2MHz, and there are lots of other mixer, sample and hold, and multiplexer analogue tricks that you can play with them, as described on the Intersil website: Intersil Website for CA3080 data
Tyco 1K Tempco Resistor 3000ppm/C £2.50 each (37 available)

Suitable for use in Oakley Sound VCO modules and many other 1V/octave VCO designs, e.g. in my frequency shifter oscillator design. These were also bought from Farnell in bulk some time ago.
CA3046 Transistor Array £1.80 each (23 available)
The standard five transistors on one die as used in various VCAs, ring modulators and oscillators. I used these as the logging transistor in a sine oscillator circuit where one of the transistors was used as a heater to keep the others at a constant temperature.

XR2206 Precision Function Generator / VCO £3.50 each (48 available)
As used in some VCO projects. Farnell have stopped stocking these.
Nat Semi LM13700 Dual Transconductance Amplifier £2.50 each (24 available)
As used in the Ambisonic Panner for the gain control elements and through-zero quadrature VCO.
Farnell now only supply the surface mounted version.

250uA, 1K Ohm D.C. Resistance Moving Coil Panel Meter marked 0 to 5, £3.00 each (10 available)
250uA f.s.d +/- 10% and approximately 1K d.c. resistance. These are ideal for general signal strength meters or battery monitors. I use one of these with a suitable zener diode and resistor to monitor my solar battery stack between 11 and 15 Volts.

560 + 560 pF Dual Gang Variable Capacitor Suitable for Crystal Set, ZN414, or any other Simple Radio Project. £9.00 each, just one available. (Due to weight, UK post only; Please contact me for overseas delivery cost on this item)

This is an air spaced dual gang 560pF + 560pF tuning capacitor suitable for all crystal radio projects. I have connected each 560pF section together with soldered wires to form an overall 1120pF variable capacitor, and this also provides easy and reliable wire connections for home constructors who don't have soldering facilities. This can be used as a superior replacement in any crystal radio project that requires a tuning capacitor. The higher value of 1120pF simply means that you will have a wider tuning range, and the air spaced capacitor is superior in terms of signal loss and ease of tuning than any solid dielectric types.
It is easier to tune with this type of capacitor than the Jackson Dilecons or the little square plastic types thanks to the ball bearing race, and the lower resistance to the turning action due to there being no physical contact between the vanes and a solid insulator.
From an educational schools and colleges standpoint, you can also see how the variable capacitor is actually constructed much more clearly than with the plastic types, that being a set of air-insulated parallel plates meshing together to a greater or lesser extent.
You could also use one 560pF section of this in any simple radio project like the H.C. Dobbs "Making a Transistor Radio" ladybird book or other AM reflex or regenerative AM radio design, simply by cutting the red wire linking the two sections.
This is also suitable for providing the adjustable capacitor element in a LW or MW DX loop antenna.
A good crystal radio is described here and this guy clearly knows his subject:

I have tested this unit for shorting between the vanes with a standard multimeter and it is clean.
