Beckenham Ladies Choir
Singers

The choir was founded in 1948 as the Cator Ladies Choir. During these years it was closely attached to the Townswomen's Guild but has gradually become self-sufficient. In the early years the Choir was led by Laurence Swinyard and, during the intervening time, has had a selection of talented conductors.

It is at present led by Dorothy Webster Thomas, ably supported by the accompanist, Pam Robertson.

The choir meets on Monday evenings at Penge Congregational Church, High Street, Penge (opposite Royston Primay School). We have around 35 members, many of whom are fine singers contributing solo performances at our concerts.

Our chief aim is the enjoyment of music, and we encourage participation and foster musical abilities at all levels. We are not currently short of singers but vacancies do arise, and we would be pleased to hear from you if you are interested in joining us.

As a member of the Choir you would be expected to attend rehearsals regularly and practise at home to some extent.

We do not require you to take an audition, but our conductor will give you a voice test once you have decided to join us.

Membership subscription is £105 a year, paid in January, May and September. If you would like to sing with us please contact our secretary in the first instance.
