Flickz - The Compendious DVD Movie Organiser
| Important Message | 1st January 2008 |
- Over two years ago I started to look for some software to catalogue my DVD collection. At the time I was using a Psion 5mx to keep records but, as the collection grew, it became obvious that a better solution was needed. I tried various programs that were available but nothing seemed to quite fit the bill and so I decided to create a program of my own.
- After nearly 18 months of part-time development Flickz was born and it has subsequently evolved into the program as it stands now. In my mis-guided enthusiasm I decided to share this work of art with the world at large and, in March 2007, published it as freeware via the SnapFiles website.
- Unfortunately, there are some users out there who seem to think that free software should come with the same back-up and support as commercially sold products. This is clearly not the case and, in light of recent events, I have decided to remove Flickz from the public domain.
- It is with regret therefore that, with immediate effect, Flickz will no longer be available for public release and all download and email links have been removed from this site. In due course, the entry at SnapFiles will also be deleted.
- Any existing installations of Flickz versions 2.7.0.5 and above will, of course, carry on working properly until such time as IMDb decide to revamp their webpages. At this point, some aspects of the movie download process may fail but it may well be many months before this happens.
- Finally, I would just like to say thanks to all the people that have responded positvely. It's a shame that I am forced to take this action but it's always the small minority that mess it up for everyone else.
