howard's
introduction
Thanks for
coming to my site and having a look at my
work. I hope you find something of interest here but first
of all let me take the opportunity to tell you a bit about
myself and what I do.
My name
is Howard Crowe, I'm 34 years old and live in England, about
25 miles North of London. I've been interested in photography
for about 15 years now on and off, with my main area of interest
being concert photography.
I started
in the same way I think many concert photographers have done
- by smuggling a camera into a gig and taking my chances
in the crowd. As you might expect, that approach didn't lead
to too many good shots although I got better and some of the
photos in these pages do originate from that period.
Initially
I was using a pocket 35mm like most people do and for those
venues where it was possible, an old Minolta
X-300 manual SLR with either a 50mm
or 70-210mm lens (if I thought I could get it in).
Around the
early 1990's it became harder to get the gear in to venues
and I stopped trying. I upgraded my equipment
and within the last year or so I have been lucky and priviledged
enough to make some contacts that have given me access to
some bands that was previously unavailable. Because of that,
I have rediscovered my interest in this type of work and look
forward to being able to make more photographs available to
you.
