first otaku
memory
comics kid h3 was always aware of the distinctive manga style but always assumed it to be european (once bought mazinger z bendies in greece!).  loved battle of the planets (natch) and later obsessively hired videos of combining mecha comedy mighty orbots.  early us effort, the novelty manga-style issues of excalibur! ^_^
first manga
(& pseudo-)
* dominion #1
* appleseed book 1
* dirty pair: plague of angels #1.
can I pick 'em or what!
first anime
* akira (sub, natch) at ukcac '89 - third ever screening in britain!
* dominion (sub.) hot dance in cherry moon...
* dangaio (sub.)
* appleseed (sub.)

already a fast fan of the dominion and appleseed manga, the vids were heaven-sent. alas my vcr at the time could only play for 8-10 seconds at a time. can you say frustrating??
