What is Friedrice:
First of all, the site is named Friedrice simply because I was looking for a name that represents me best. I love food, and my most favourite food is friedrice! Also friedrice is an asian dish, especially in the south east asia, where I come from.
Friedrice is made up of many different ingredients and what I make is made up of many different materials, from vintage fabrics, rare knits, to used clothes and my mom-in-laws collection of buttons.
I have been sewing for many years. When I was young, I used to help my grandma cut up squares of fabrics and baste them to squares of newspapers for her quilt project. She taught me how to make a traditional dress for my barbie doll. My mom-in-law introduced me to cross stich a few years ago and I did it solidly for three years. The testimony to that is the collection of framed cross stitches and cross stitched cushions all around my house! I am more of a seamstress than a designer. I love playing with my machines and I like to be creative with my sewing, I hope you like what I've come up with! Oh, I hoard too many fabrics and vintage patterns.
The clothes
The clothes I make are made using new and vintage fabrics and trims. I occasionally use recycled vintage and new clothes which I find at charity shops, or get given to me. I am the sole designer, seamstress, and packing lady, working in the comfort of my living room so no sweatshop kids here. Most of the items are one-off, i.e. I never make them more than once, so they are unique and rare ;-)
