Trying to make sense of it

To get around my troubled times.
No one wants to make you think
Or even, pray tell, laugh
When they use words and rhyming lines
To get around their troubled times.
It’s not very interesting
Every lyricist has written it before
The pain drawn in new words
Every year, more and more
Your patience must be tired
Of hearing how the heartache swells
Put in words and rhyming lines
And - oh, surprise! More troubled times.
Trying their hands at poetry
A musician making more than notes
But also words and rhyming lines
Deriving from their troubled times.
It’s not very interesting
Every lyricist has written it before
The pain drawn in new words
