Charles, Amity, Arkansas, America

Charles suffered a minor setback in the first few days, he ate it.
I hasten to add that this was not intentional but was accidentally
served up for breakfast by a well meaning relative. Spud number 2 enters the stage.

The bucket

The spud Now you see it,
now you don't.

Spud #2 was placed whole on a bed of 4 inches of compost so that the eyes that looked promising were facing upwards.  Spud #3 was cut into pieces with one or two eyes to a piece and placed around Spud #2.  Then the whole mess was covered over with a weeks worth of used coffee grounds.  Will that work?  Makes Ivy grow like crazy.  Anyway, I figure this will give me a supply of material to cover the growing (hopefully) plants.

I think we are suffering from DSS. (Dud Spud Syndrome)  There are signs of life; a few ants and one small spider.  Unfortunately, it remains devoid of flora.  My experience with potatoes is limited to cooking and eating; but, you would think it could at least muster a parasitic fungus.  Guess I'll sprinkle a bit of water on it now and then and just leave it
