Welcome to the T'Mershi Tuplet Homepage
This page is currently under construction, partly because I'm having to teach myself HTML as I go, and partly because it's a pretty big task I'm taking on here!
This page is dedicated to researches in statistical density within the music of Frank Zappa. More specifically, it is dedicated to highlighting various tuplets that crop up regularly within the written/dictated parts.
A tuplet is a grouping of notes that goes against the traditional 1-2, 1-2 of more conventional music (or indeed the 1-2-3, 1-2-3 if you prefer waltzes), and crams in an odd number of notes instead. A good example would be the playing of 5 notes over the space of four, or the more extreme example of 23 notes in the space of 24. As FZ put it, it's like playing Monday and Tuesday in the space of Thursday.
Over the coming months I will be adding to this site, uploading as many tuplets as I can (transcribed, MIDI'd and described).
For now, please feel free to e-mail me with your comments, feedback, and tuplet suggestions.
