Matters Arising
- Plans
for arent Education
East Cheshire NHS Trust over the past three years has seen
an increase in the number of deliveries. Over this time
the caesarean section rate has been quite static. It was
recognised that the current class sizes for couples was
unacceptable, limiting valuable group dynamics to be fostered.
It is aimed to refocus the programme on normality. The new
course will standardise the programme for all classes within
the Trust.
Comments
- Decision made to withdraw HV
- Invite new breastfeeding mum to classes
- Couples session
- women usually sit with partner and don't mix
- Split 2-hour session up for women only 1st hour and then
partners
- not feasible
- Mix multips to share experience
Comments to Lorraine Perry or Beverly Walsh on the review
paper and the proposed new programme appreciated in writing
by 8th May 2007.
- Water
birth/Visiting times Questionnaire
Current visiting times have been well supported especially
the rest period - times to remain the same.
Action plan for improving the use of water for relaxation
and birth at East Cheshire tabled at the meeting.
Comments
- Push at parent education classes - video of water birth?
- Article in local papers regarding visiting times and use
of the pool
- Advertise in each GP waiting room
Information leaflet included in the 28-week antenatal pack.
Marion Grant offered to update the leaflet. Final copy to
be emailed to all members of MSLC.

on 26th June 2007.

- Breastfeeding
Data
The two Trusts have now merged. There has been no data for
a number of months, PCT data up to March 06 - Guy Hayhurst
and Margaret Malkin to pursue.
A new Breastfeeding Strategy Group has recently been set
up between East Cheshire Trust and Central and Eastern Cheshire
PCT. The group is led by the Public Health Team and meet
quarterly. The new group is aiming to develop and implement
a strategic plan to increase initiation and continuation
of breastfeeding. Grace Hopps to take issues to the next
