Rob Allen, the Wales based performer who is enjoying success with ''I Love Country Music'', treats us to another dozen originals, this time purely acoustic. ''Low-Fi'' (RAM) captures Rob in a relaxed mood, just a singer his songs and his guitar and the effect is quite stunning.
A few fancy pickers and a good sound engineer can make anyone sound half decent but here, with no one to hide behind, Allen has to rely upon his own talents and proves just what a force in Country music he is. The husky voice is just the right vehicle for tunes like ''Somebody's Baby'', ''I Honestly Love You'', ''Help Your Brother''', ''I Will always Be Here'', and ''Old Friends''. I feel it is only a matter of time before some Nashville superstar gets a hold of a Rob Allen song and proves there is still gold in the Welsh Mountains.
