GDos unit - Replacement for the Dos/WinDos unit

Download GDos Download the freeware GDos distribution version 2.20 now! (200K)

This archive contains the free GDos unit distribution. GDos is a unit that replaces the standard Borland Dos/WinDos and Strings units. Not only can it be compiled to support long file names, it also provides many more useful functions and procedures, such as very fast uppercase and lowercase inline functions that even work with extendend characters. GDos also provides a much more stable platform for writing Dos Protected Mode (DPMI) applications. This distribution contains a comprehensive TP7/BP7 compatible IDE help file - simply add GDOS.TPH to your IDE's help files list (Help|Files - Add) to get comprehensive help where you need it most - inside your application development environment.

GDos 2.20 is already supplied in the Graphic Vision 2.20 distribution, so you have no need to download this as well if you have downloaded the above GV evaluation version. Please also check the Updates page for updates to GDos.

JPEG encoder/decoder source code for Graphic Vision

Download GvJPEG Download the freeware GVJPEG distribution version 1.01 now! (394K)

This archive contains the free GVJPEG distribution. GVJPEG is a GV-specific version of Jaques Nomsii Nzali's port of the sixth public release of the IJG C source (release 6b of 27-Mar-98) [3], that implements JPEG baseline, extended-sequential, and progressive decompression processes for Graphic Vision 2.1x for Turbo Pascal 7.0 (DOS (TP7/BP7) or DPMI (BP7).

This code is not included in the above Graphic Vision evaluation distribution, and two of the demo programs (gvfm and bmpview) can be compiled with JPEG support if you download this source code distibution.

Please note that although the encoding engine code is included in this distribution, There is currently no Graphic Vision interface to the JPEG encoding engine.

File Manager

Download GVFM Download the File Manager 2.66 demonstation program now! (924k)

This archive contains the protected mode Graphic Vision File Manager demonatration application. (Example screenshot). One of the best DOS directory browser/managers ever written, GVFM really is just a DOS Pascal application!

The source code for Graphic Vision File Manager is included in the Graphic Vision evaluation distribution above, though this executable is built from a later alpha version of Graphic Vision that supports wheeled mice (see CuteMouse below). New to version 2.00 is DOS codepage support, a larger font for 1200x1024 and 1600x1200 video modes (or those with a visual disability) and resizable file information pane fields. GVFM.EXE also includes a built-in "E"-like text editor, simple four-function calculator and calendar.

New to version 2.62 is support for 32bpp (TrueColor) video modes, a customisable desktop and many small improvements and bug-fixes.

Text Editor

Download GVFM Download the GV Text Editor demonstation program now! (245K)

This archive contains an example DOS real mode Graphic Vision Text Editor demonatration application. (Example screenshot). This multi-document, plain text file editor comes complete with context-sensitive help (in English, French and German), plus a calculator and calendar.

Mahjong! Game

Download Mahjong! Download the Mahjong! program now! (422K)

VESAMTRR utility

Download VESAMTRR 1.3 Download the VESAMTRR utility now! (6K)

This archive contains the VESAMTRR 1.3 utility written by Japheth. VESAMTRR can increase CPU -> video bandwidth enormously on many modern machines. Please read the information contained in the archive or visit the home of VESAMTRR and the HX DPMI server/extender.

Note that the GVFM distrubution already contains the VESAMTRR executable.

CuteMouse Driver

Download CuteMouse 2.01b Go to the CuteMouse website now! (72K)

This excellent little open source DOS mouse driver has a tiny memory footprint and is the only DOS driver to date that supports the wheel of the newer wheeled mice. The above GVFM.EXE and E.EXE demos above will make use of this functionality (under DOS, not [yet] in a Win9x DOS box). Please read the information contained in the archive or visit the home of CuteMouse.
