Welcome from the Headteacher

I would like to welcome you to The Spinney Primary School website. This site provides information for children, staff, governors, and parents of children at the school, or who are interested in sending their children here.

The Spinney is a very welcoming, caring community and I feel very privileged to be a part of it. The school's mission statement is "Teaching and Learning Together" and this is very much at the heart of what we do.

In recent years the Spinney has achieved a number of prestigious awards including Investors in People, The Health Promoting Schools Award and the ICT Mark (There are only about 5% of these schools nationally) In 2006 the school was assessed by Ofsted as being an "outstanding" school, one of the first in the country.

Academically the children achieve very highly in English, Maths and Science but we are passionate about promoting all curriculum subjects. At present we offer the children Music and French for one hour per week each. There are a number of clubs which run after school including an ICT club, football, netball and dance club.

There is a strong community feel to the school with a very strong parents association (Friends), a hard working and skilled staff team, and a fully committed Governing Body. The Spinney has a lot to offer our children and we always keep them at the centre of everything we do.
