GTa

The GTa was launched in 1990 with the new Metro range.  It continued on the success of the Austin metro mark 2 GTa. It was a slightly lower spec than the GTi, but was cheaper too.  It was not really classed as a hot hatch or performance model, but it was more of a car for someone who wanted a good looking car without massive insurance quotes and super performance, a warm hatch as it would be called today.  It gained a 16v engine and a catalyst as standard in 1991 but was soon dropped as the 1.4 Si came out on a very similar spec as part of the realignment of the Metro range.    The GTa was later relaunched as the GTa SE in 1994 prior to the Rover 100 launch.  Rover Metro GTa 1990Rover Metro GTa 1990
