GTa SE 1.1 & 1.4
Rovers re-introduction of new higher spec GTa models prior to the Rover
100 launch. Same interior as the Si (red seatbelts!) The alloys and
badging look good from the outside. Spec is impressive too. Similar
to the original GTa, but subtlety improved (new alloys). No 16v engines but they are
injection. Writing and pictures quoted from the 1994 sales leaflet...
"GTa
by name - and by nature"
"On looks alone, the new Metro GTa SE models put their
rivals in the shade. With distinctive alloy wheels and a rear
spoiler. And a choice of three stunning body colours - British Racing
Green Metallic, White Diamond or Flame Red. Red bumper inserts and the
unique GTa decals add the finishing touch.
Take a closer look, and you'll be amazed at the value. The generous equipment includes a tilting/removable glass sunroof, and green tinted glass. The protection of an anti-theft alarm with immobiliser; and the convenience of remote control central door locking. Plus thoughtful features such as rear wash wipe with intermittent wipe, and internally adjustable door mirrors.
The interior makes more expensive small cars look
positively spartan. With a sports steering wheel, tachometer and attractive
sports
Harlequin seat facings. Not to mention the upholstered height adjustable front
head restraints, and full depth cloth
door
casings. You'll enjoy great sound from the four speaker electronic stereo
radio/cassette (security coded of course). And you'll appreciate the many practical
features, from the 60/40 split folding rear seat, to the programmed wash/wipe
and variable speed intermittent wipe.
But to discover the true character of the new GTa SE models, you'll simply have to get out on the road. Enjoy the taught handling and uncannily smooth ride. And a response that's not only eager, but astonishingly refined.
The 1.1 Litre Rover engine drives like a much larger power unit; yet with standard five-speed transmission it also delivers up to 62.9mp* at a constant 56mph. The 75ps 1.4 litre GTa with single point fuel injection and close ratio transmission can sprint from 30 - 50 mph in 4th in a mere 7.6 seconds**.
