1.1C and 1.4CD

This was the basic model of the Metro, similar to the Rover 111i.  It was launched in 1990 with the Rover Metro range and continued though until the Metro was dropped in 1994.  During that time its spec improved slightly to make the car more appealing.  The Quest model was launched in 1992.  At the same time the 1.4CD was launched.  The CD was a diesel model with the same trim and specification except of course for the diesel engine.  The 'C' specification was upgraded in 1992 so it was not longer a bottom spec model.  The  new Quest model became the new base model.

• 4 speed gearbox (became 5 speed in 1992)
• 3 or 5 door
• Black bumpers (became colour keyed for 1993 approx) - not sure of exact date
• Full width wheel trims from 1992
• Optional stereo radio/cassette (standard from 1993)
• Optional rear wash/wipe (standard from 1993)
• Body colour bumpers from 1994 with bright inserts
• Optional alarm from 1994
• Optional remote central locking and variable speed intermittent wash wipe from 1994
• The interior was re-trimmed around 1993 with Harlequin seat facings. 
• Optional sunroof 1993 onwards
• Optional metallic paint
