Houses, Houses, Houses!

When councillors from Fareham and Gosport excitedly threw themselves against the idea of a
centre for asylum seekers, at Lee on Solent, they failed to mention the one thousand-plus houses being built just across the road. Their concern for the 'elderly residents' didn't surface when plans for these houses were made public. They could find public money to fight the proposed centre, which is planned for existing buildings, but did nothing to stop the inevitable destruction of the environment when these one thousand houses are built. At an average of four people per house, they will bring about four thousand more people to the area, plus hundreds more cars. A bit different from the proposed four hundred people in the (temporary) centre. All the time the ex-naval base is used as an asylum centre, the developers are held at bay. This is the real reason for the local councillors concern. Sod the locals! Get those houses built!

So, it's September 2006, and the airfield is being fenced off, leaving just enough room for aircraft to land, and lots more room for thousands more houses. Now there's a surprise! How much info did our 'public servants' give us about their plans in the propaganda sheet sent out around Gosport?
