Once you've sailed with them, you never forget them do you?
Shipmates I'm on about. You may forget the names but perhaps a nickname springs to mind or an incident which sparks your memory but, at the very least, you never forget 'old whatsisname' do you? Which is precisely why I've put together a few Shipmates to perhaps jog your memories and maybe identify the unknown men on this page.
UPDATE:
Regarding the photo on this page captioned 'Johnny Dick (Back), John Sharp (Left), Roy Kelsie (Right) and Billy Rendle (Front)'...
John Evans writes to say "The photo of Sharpy.. Johnny Dick"Binky" Roy Kelsey and Billy Rendle. It was taken in the spring of 1960, fishing the East Horns, SE Iceland. How do I know? I was the deckie learner at the time and took that photo. In fact, I have that very photo some where in my home. Axel Olsen was Skipper, George Burrows Mate, Jimmy Gordon Third hand. Oh yeah, probably the BEST crew I ever shipped with."
Thanks for that John, much appreciated mate.
