Elizabeth Ann Astill

Joseph Henry Cox was about six years old when Elizabeth Ann Astill married James Turner.

Having been widowd and about two years befor her death, Elizabeth moved to Provo to live with her daughter, Ann Cox Goddard and her husband
Living at 488 South First West, Provo,Utah

John Samual Cox stayed in the Uk with the intension of coming to america later. A neighbour lady in England wrote to Elizabeth telling her that John was involved romantically with a lady in England(Elizabeth Taylor maybe). Elizabeth did not try to confirm the affair and proceeded to obtain a divorce. The Divorce was Granted on 31st Aug 1878, Salt Lake County, Utah.Elizabeth was granted custody of Joseph Henry. The court order allowed Elizabeth to resume using her maiden name "Astill".


Jane Severn

Emigrated to the USA in 1873 with 2 of her children, Martha and Isabella, on the steamship "Wyoming" on the same sailing as her daughter -in-law, Elizabeth Ann Astill and her children.


Martha Hannah (Ann) Cox

Went to USA in 1873 with her mum Jane and sister Martha.


Isabella Cox

Went to USA in 1873 with her mum Jane and sister Isabella.


Levi Hardcastle

Was a Britannia Metal Smith by trade.When 8 years old babtized.
In 1856 his father sailed on the ship "William Tapscott" for the USA.
On which he died not being able to stand the conditions of the journey.
In 1866, Levi,with his mother and two sisters.Jane and Emma,sailed forAmerica on the ship "John Bright" arriving in New York 6th June 1866.theycrossed th plains with Captain White's mule train. After arriving inUtah,they moved to Provo Valley,where they lived for a while.In 1874 heMarried Mary Astill and they settled in in Sandy where he was very activein the LDS,He was ordained successively to the office of DeconTeacher,elder and High Priest.
