Plans are now in hand for the next Gathering of members of the Skull/Scull family and those researching its history. The informal committee that met to discuss the arrangements have decided on the date of Saturday August 11 2007 and the venue will be in North Wiltshire UK. I have already sent an e-mail to our overseas contacts to give them more time to make their plans. Please put this date in your diary; arrange your holidays around that date, or, even better, arrange part of your holiday in this lovely part of the UK! Nearby we have the Kennet and Avon Canal, The Cotswolds, Stonehenge and the Avebury Circle, Lacock, Castle Combe and Westonbirt Arboretum.

Although this newsletter is geared towards those researching the UK Skull/Scull family I often have contact with the extended family whose ancestors emigrated from the UK Among those who have been regular visitors to the Skull/Scull Gatherings are Rodney and Neil Pyke from Australia. Rodney quickly replied to my e-mail to say that they plan to make the journey again. Our sympathy is extended to them on the deaths of their mother and sister this year.

A visitor to a previous Gathering was Rene Scull whose family previously lived in Cuba and Venezuela. Rene moved to France, but has not kept in touch for some years.                                                            If you read this, Rene, we would love to hear from you again.

When I first started our family research I had no internet access…today everything is much quicker, and it is possible for those starting out in family history to type in "Skull" or "Scull" to a search engine and to find the Web site and contact me by e-mail. Having said that, I still send many copies of each issue of this newsletter by post. Do you now have an e-mail address or perhaps another member of the family could receive the newsletter…this will ease the time and cost

The web site needs regular new material so that it is up-to-date and fresh in it's content. Greg Long will look forward to being inundated with items/photos in the New Year!

New Contacts during this year include

Keith Bidlingmaier     Scull family in the USA

David Scull from Stockport ,Cheshire, England

Melba Davis from USA tracing back to William Henry Scull who emigrated in 1906 from Dowlais, S Wales.

Teresa Annett from Gosport, Hants, UK

Joanna Clothier from nearby Grittenham, Wilts

Susan Bowles

Sonia Belfield, tracing back to Kington, Herefordshire, UK. And

Robert Scull, a Black Attorney, from Little Rock, AR. USA.

Amongst other events on the FH front this year; I have joined the Guild of One Name Studies and registered my interest in the Scull and Skull names. I have also registered these names on the Curious Fox website. Hopefully this will produce more contacts.

The next contact I have with you will be to send the invitation to the Skull/Scull Gathering.            Book the date.      Look out the old photos.    Bring all your unanswered questions.    Pass this on to your cousins.   Bring them, and make the Day even more successful !!

Joy and I pass on our best wishes for the Christmas Season and for 2007.

Sid.
