using an SBIG ST-7 ABG or ST-8 Non-ABG on a Meade LX200 10" f10 with a Celestron 6.3 or Meade 3.3 reducer. Colour images were taken through the SBIG CFW-8 filter wheel (Interference Filters) Camera control and image processing was with the MaxIm CCD software.

My latest attempts at a colour imaging.

                 

Mars on 17th August 2005, 10 days prior to nearest approach....and Uranus on the same night, RGB images taken at f20. Due to the low altitude of Mars there is heavy distortion caused by atsmospheric turbulance. However Mare Erythraeum is obvious (dark patch right of center) with the lighter Chryse above. As ever the southern polar cap is obvious.

IC443 in Gemini with its large curved shape (this image is only part of the whole) is likely a very old supernova remnant. Imaged at -30°C on 27th December 2005. It is a CMYK composite with K of 12x5 minutes duration, ST-8 camera at f10

M95 in Leo is a nice example of a Barred Spiral galaxy. Imaged at -25°C on 12th March 2005. It is a CMYK composite with K of 7x10 minutes duration, ST-8 camera at f10

Ngc2903 is one of the many good bright spiral galaxies in Leo. It was imaged at -25°C on 13th February 2005. It is a CMYK composite with K of 6x10 minutes duration, ST-8 camera at f10

My first attempt at combining multiple images together to create a wider view. The smaller image was taken at f6.3 and colour processed slightly differently. 

The Flame Nebula or Ngc 2024 is from the same nebulosity that produces the Horsehead Nebula seen below. The bright star on the eastern edge (Alnitak or Zeta Orionis) is that which causes the gas to glow so brightly. Imaged at -25°C on 29th December 1999, The Flame can be found in Orion. It is a CMYK composite with K of 6x10 minutes duration, ST-8 camera at f10

b33.jpg (148421 bytes)The Horsehead Nebula or Barnard 33 is formed by a cloud of darker matter in front of the emission nebula IC 434. The overlying rays are from a nearby star just out of frame. This is a RGB composite of 3x10 minutes duration, ST-8 camera at f10, taken at -25°C on 6th November 1999.
