A Message
From The Chairman:-
The
Tamworth Heritage Trust has only been in existence since June 2000. The
group came together when Tamworth resident Ian Gibbons called a public
meeting for Tamworth people who are interested in the heritage of the
town. The meeting was held in Tamworth’s historic Moat House; Ian spoke
with passion and drive, about the need for a heritage centre and museum to
compliment the existing Castle Museum. He quite rightly asked the
question why there was not a permanent exhibition in the town to
commemorate Sir Robert Peel? He also asked from the floor that night for
people to come forward and join him. I was suitably impressed and
immediately volunteered. Our aim is that some day in the not too distant
future Tamworth will have the Heritage Centre it deserves.
