Johnny Coleclough

Johnny Coleclough was born in East Manchester, UK, he started playing the accordion as a child, it was a more affordable option, for his parents, than buying a piano.

He has played in a variety of bands and orchestras as well as having his own trio, he has always been able to find employment in show business. Although his first love is the accordion he has diversified and probably uses the piano keyboard more now, his singing was a relatively late addition to his skills and was developed (some would argue about that choice of word) to augment his solo work.

Now in his 70's Johnny is the President of Stockport Accordion Club, a role he enjoys and makes no secret of his admiration for technically better accordionists, his own style being partly self taught and partly learning from people like Rudi Mancini, Mantovani, and other musicians he has worked with. He was resident at Bernard Manning's Embassy Club, he was resident organ player at the Blackpool Tower lounge for several seasons and for many years appeared as Johann at the Beer Kellar in Manchester's Piccadilly.

These songs were taken from a DVD by David Batty of Leyland Accordion Club where Johnny is a regular guest, it was made earlier this year (2007).
