Astilbe Needs a moist lightly shaded area with a good rich soil and can tolorate quite a deep shade without too much loss of flowering. Do not allow the plant to completly dry out as the leaves will wilt and only partially recover after watering leaving a brown crisp edge to them as will growing in full sun after time. The crowns should be planted in the spring and these can be divided up every three or four years. With shades of white, red and pink they are quite resisant to pest and disease, and plumes can be dried.
