1. It was agreed to ask area services to co-ordinate the group.
Clarification of group members was required.Group members not present today M Eastwood and R Duggal.
Health issues identified previously in Broomwood, Health Survey and Community Planning were used as a basis for discussion.
It was noted that the following services are happening in Broomwood to address health needs;
Broomwood health walks held every 2 weeks on 1st and 3rd Wednesday.
Tai Chi - weekly (Tuesday)
Sunday school - to be held monthly, next meeting at youth centre 27/06/04
Fit For Life and Perfect Body courses held with First Aid course hopefully planned with Monica Bannister.
No smoking days.
Over 50 's group
Healthy school lunches and Fruity Friday events at Broomwood School
Fruit and Veg van visiting Maritime Housing on Thursday at 1.30pm Diane and Kath to follow up if van visits Millom Court, possibility of other venues to be explore.
Child Safety Bus to visit Broomwood in child safety week.
It was suggested that the Broomwood Voice identified a person each month that had made a positive life change in Broomwood.
- However the following health issues on Broomwood were identified;
2. Road Safety Issues
2 recent road accidents with children in Broomwood.
Parking on pavements by shops and bungalows. Are bollards needed?
A pavement has been removed at Greenfield/Branson walk car park.
3. Lack of local dentists
J Brophy has written a letter to Diane to follow up.
Ruth to contact FHSA for current dentist list. Ruth to find local dental statistics.
4. Dog Excrement
Especially on Brooks Drive.
Not enough bins.
Litter/glass especially around Broomwood Pub.
Intimidation of elderly
Difficulties in Provision for people with disabilities i.e
No disabled parkingRamp at shops too steep
5. Difficulties getting to services at Timperley Health CentreNot on bus route from Broomwood.
6. Obesity Issues
7. Youth Centre closure will affect service provision in short term.
