Health Sub Group  Minutes of 16th November 2004

Meeting Held at Altrincham Youth Centre at 1.30pm

1.   Grant will maintain and update the web site for NHS dentists and doctors.

The group raised concerns over the different processes that doctors are using for patients trying to arrange appointments, such as premium lines and phone lines being constantly engaged. Group will gather more information and clarify situation. If there are concerns we will write outlining concerns and make recommendations.

2.  Firework Season

The group felt that the fireworks initiative had impacted successfully in reducing the number of nights that fireworks where let off but there where still concerns over youths using them anti socially and the size and quality available to the public.

3.  The Health Walks are still going strong.

The group would like to develop links with the school to see if there is the possibility for supervised children to attend some walks and promote intergenerational work. Diane to action.

4.   Dog care and excrement

A questionnaire is going to be designed to gauge the communities needs. The funding or poop scoops' is under discussion. Hope to develop a programme for the new year and develop links with other organisations to facilitate this.

5.   Disability Access

A report is being compiled in regards to the access to amenities by people with disabilities. This initially shows
that facilities are less than adequate. The report needs finalising with imput from Broomwood residents, photos and clarification on the current requirements with the Disability Discrimination Act.

Further action to follow

6.  No work on site noted yet with the medical centre - situation the same.

7.   Sue is collecting information for a directory of services for older people on Broomwood.

Keith to design it, Ruth and Sue to look at printing - ongoing
