MINUTES

Present:

Debbie Gorman,  Marie Toboni,  Graham Stringer, Grant McKenzie,  Joe Statham,  Paul Huxley

Apologies:

Cllr. Jane Brophy,   Lindsey Ralston,   Mary Eastwood, Veta Gordon,   Alan Bailey

1.  Sub group remit:  Since the previous meeting of 24th May 2004 this had been discussed with Altrincham Area Services to consider the possibilities of arranging a facilitator for the sub group(s). Altrincham Area Services are presently not in a position to perform this function. (AAS & BP)

2.    Scope of this Sub Group: Some emails had been received from potential attendees of the Environmental Sub Group that tended to indicate that they were in favour of holding separate meetings on environmental topics, no specific motion was put before the meeting Paul Huxley was in favour of continuing the joint meetings most people seemed happy to continue joint progress as it was felt that many of the issues overlapped.  In respect of Transport and Accessibility it was considered that the issues surrounding this were so numerous that we should suggest that Broomwood Partnership set up a separate Sub Group to attend to all the Transport related issues (BP)

3.    Agenda: No agenda items had been received thus no formal agenda had been created for this meeting.

4.    ENVIRONMENTAL MATTERS:

·       Broomwood Community Wood, on the advice of TMBC officers it was decided not to take any action at this stage.  Mark Burrows of AYC came in to update us in respect of ‘activities’ in the wood and told us of the efforts being applied by his team to raise funding for Screaming Wheels a youth project in Partington which it was hoped would provide some good diversionary outlet and provide recreational space and additional facilities for adventurous young people, Self help was felt to be key and it was hoped that the young people would work together with Broomwood Community Association to apply for sufficient funding, Mark Burrows to provide feedback in due course.                  (Mark B. & Paul H.)

·       Bulky Rubbish £15 Charge:  the 6-month Pilot had expired – there was no indication of a decision yet, the group felt that this was a Partnership issue. (BP)

·       Fly Tipping:  Graham Stringer reported that there were still instances of this and that there had been a bit of a reduction in fly tipping in the last month or so.

·       200 public footpaths in Trafford: are not on schedules at present, the land and footpaths on the land behind Redbrook Road near to Fairywell Brook was in multiple ownership. Grant agreed to make contact with Trafford Direct and arrange for someone to remedy the poor state of footpaths in that area ASAP.  (Grant M.)

5. HOUSING MATTERS:

·       Problems of tenants requiring repairs in Housing (THT) properties, it was explained that Housing repairs were being centralised at Carrington and that this reorganization of the system was ongoing pending the transfer of housing to THT in February 2005.  (Joe S.)

·        New Opening Hours at Housing Sub Office:

·        MONDAY 9:30am to 12 Noon.

·        (WEDNESDAY NOW VACATED)

·       FRIDAY   9:30am to 12 Noon.

·       REDBROOK ROAD – Flats:  2 sheds to be removed.

·       MILLOM COURT:  a fine set of plans to improve the garden there was displayed; 4 benches, good disabled access attractive flagged area with water feature enclosed with trellis.

   6.GENERAL:

·        BCA to organise meeting: to progress funding cooperation as proposed by Debbie Gorman last meeting (BCA September Management Meeting TBA by Paul H.)

·        ENVIRONMENTAL Sub Group to meet with Housing Sub unless otherwise notified. No separate meetings have taken place or been announced yet          (Cllr J Brophy & Paul H.)
