The Narrowboat GRALYN was built beside the Manchester Ship canal at Irlam in a riding school by Mr G Pilling and Mr B Probin. She was completed in 1993 and was originally called Hide A Way. She is 40ft long and 6'10"wide and draws about 2'6" at the stern. She is powered by a  B.M.C. 2.2 ltr Commodore diesel engine through a 2:1 reduction gearbox to a 17"x11" propeller. (Thanks to Brian and Norma Probin for the update on the boats origins and the following picture)

She is currently moored on the Macclesfield Canal and has been there since March 1999.

There were two main cruises undertaken in 1999

1. June/July
Stockport to Ripon via the Leeds + Liverpool canal and return via the River Trent and the Trent + Mersey canal

2.September
Stockport to Llangollen and return with a trip down the Montgomery canal.
