Does the temperature of a location depend on its latitude?

Open this spreadsheet and this webpage. Individually, or in pairs, enter the latest temperature data available for each location into column B. (The document will have opened in an Internet Explorer window - go to View > Toolbars > Standard in order to see the usual Excel toolbar).

Discussion about what this data shows.

In twos - collect data for one of the cities at the same time for past week.

Find latitude of city.

History Activity. Load this Excel file (which is adapted from a CSV file Greenfield Road from the MAPE History curriculum support area.

Discus any questions which it might be able to answer - finding relevant NC History Units may help.

Can you make use of the sort facilities to aid in the production of similar age distribution graphs to the one for 1841?

Would you expect children to be able to produce age distribution graphs - or graphs to show numbers in households? Or should it be the job of the teacher? Teaching Assistant? Who?
