FDG202 - Organising and managing the teaching of Numeracy and ICT
Assessment Strategy
A critical analysis (1500 word) of opportunities to use ICT to enhance Mathematics in their class/school setting. The assessment will also include a presentation (1000 word equivalent) of examples of learning resources for Mathematics produced by the student.
Learning outcomes 1 to 4.
Assessments are marked against the Level 2
grading criteria.
Some brief notes which may help with the assignment - these are pointers which cropped up in tutorials last year which I thought might be useful.
- in the "critical analysis":
- do be specific - mention pieces of software or websites which you have observed being used (or would advocate being used) by teachers and children
- do refer to a wide variety of source material including, learning theorists, QCA schemes & other DFES/BECTA publications (paper or web based), teachers' notes for the software, software reviews and evaluations - see the Curriculum Online site, or others which contain evaluations, such as thee-valuate
- for the "learning resources":
- you DO NOT NEED to do a Powerpoint presentation
- you do need to be able to show the resource you have produced (please bring your laptops if it is a screen based resource)
- an overhead projector will be available
- keep the talk about the resource to about 10 minutes
- you will actually be marked on the resource itself, along with a written account of how it was/is to be used, especially objectives and links to the curriculum
- again - use references to justify the why and how of using the resource
DO bear in mind the four learning outcomes - and ensure that what you write in both parts of the assignment relates to them
The pass mark for Level 2 modules is 35%
