World Wado-Kai Masters Seminar FRIDAY The Course began with the group of students being introduced to our guest Instructors. Who then told us a little about themselves with the help of Sensei Sakagami of course. They started off with all the students doing basic techniques and pina shodan. They then split into three groups - Kata, Kumite and Pair work, each group were changed around after about 45 minutes which gave everyone a taste of each Instructor and the training they were giving. The training finished about 10.00pm, everyone looked tired but you could see they had all enjoyed the first part of the course. SATURDAY Saturday session started mid morning and the hall seemed even fuller than the night before. Again the students could choose which group they wanted to go into. The kata group after going through all the pinan Katas , were seen to be going through Kushanku with such depth and intensity. Looking to the far side of the hall we watched as they practised Kihon number 7 and 8 followed by kneeling techniques. And of course we could hear as well as see the enthusiasum of the students on the Kumite mat. SUNDAY This was the final day of a great course. The morning started from where they had left off the day before, splitting once again into three groups, moving around every 45 minutes. The time came later in the day for the big finish, the students were asked to split into two groups, those who wanted to carry on with the kumite and those who were there for, yes youve guessed it, the kata we had all been waiting for Super Empi. We had to smile when most of the students went to the side of the hall where the kate was to be shown, some students felt guilty towards the kumite Sensei because they had enjoyed his lesson so much, but could not come away without learning the thing they had travelled miles for. Because of the amount of students wanting to learn the kata some found it hard to see. They had to go through it a few times then swapped the students around so the people who had been at the back were put to the front. Again we had to smile as when the course had finished we could see some of them trying to remember the kata moves some better than others, but as usual helping each other. THE WHOLE WEEKEND WAS A FANTASTIC EXPERIENCE FOR EVERYONE. STUDENTS FROM A WIDE RANGE OF COUNTRIES COMMENTED ON HOW MUCH THEY HAD ENJOYED THE COURSE.
