Since Octover 2000, I have been the Senior Consultant in Nottingham for EMAG work (EMAG = Ethnic Minority Achievement Grant)

Prior to that I was in Leicester doing similar work but only in charge of the work in one part of the city. At that time it was called Section XI

From 1976 to 1992 I was teacher-in-charge of the Language Centre, Nottingham. The centre provided English Language Classes for children who were newly arrived in the country.

For 4 years before that I taught English as an additional language in Birmingham.

And between 1965 and 1972, I taught Scripture in a secondary modern school, English in 2 teacher training colleges in Ghana and did my PGCE, specialising in English as a additional language.

My wife and i were once introduced like this:
"This is Gordon and Janet - they collect children"

Well how many children do we have?

We have
4 sons
3 adopted children
3 mixed race children
2 curly haired children
1 foster child
1 child born to us
1 bilingual child
and
a daughter
