The practices outlined in this section relate
to methods of food presentation that do not require the use of special materials or

Grass |
| Method |
Large areas of enclosure set aside
for grass, with areas fenced off to regenerate. |
| Species |
Tapir, Antelope, Deer, Pygmy
Hippo, Babirusa. |
| Purpose |
Provide natural food substrate for
grazing animals, allowing them to feed when they desire. |
| Pro |
Cheap and low maintenance method
of feeding. |
| Con |
Animals evolved to feed on poor
food, for example, Reindeer, cannot deal with normal grass, as it is too rich, and will
become ill and even die. |

In spring, high levels of minerals
in fresh growth can cause "grass staggers", so early growth should be cut back.
