Individual Methods for Feeding
Methods - Practices
Branch Bowls
The practices outlined in this section relate
to methods of food presentation that do not require the use of special materials or
devices. Scatter feeds, use of specific locations, and methods of ensuring that specific
animals receive required medications and dietary supplements are dealt with.
Branch Bowls |
| Method |
Main portion of daily food is
placed in standard feeding bowls attached to branches above the ground level. |
| Species |
Marmosets, Tamarins, White-faced
Saki, Langurs, Pheasants, Pigeons. |
| Purpose |
Provide clumped food resource
sites for arboreal animals, and to allow careful monitoring of how well the animals are
feeding. |
| Pro |
Useful for animals that are
reluctant to explore the ground. Less messy than scatter feeds, and allows at-a-glance
appraisal of how much the animals have eaten. |
