Hand Held Food Puzzle
The feeding methods outlined in this section
require prior preparation in terms of making devices for use by the animals, including
items that must be opened or manipulated to obtain food, frames to hold food items, and
containers that randomly release food such as insects.

Empty clear-plastic juice bottle
with holes drilled in sides. Seeds are placed inside, and fall out when the bottle is
shaken. |

| Purpose |
Simple puzzle feeder which
requires the monkey to work out how to get the seeds out of the see-through bottle. |

Cheap and quick to make, provides
a lot of stimulation. |

Large Macaque males become
frustrated and chew through the plastic. The public may mistake the bottle for litter. |
