Windows |
| Method |
Position of windows on exterior
wall of chimp housing allows chimps and monkeys in the outside and inside enclosure areas
to observe each other. |
| Species |
Chimpanzee, Ring-tailed Lemur,
Monkeys. |
| Purpose |
Allows visual contact to be
maintained between areas of indoor and outdoor enclosures. |
| Pro |
-- |
| Con |
Some chimps in outdoor enclosure
jump at window if keeper or visitor stands inside looking out. Windows have to be washed
regularly, often more than once per day. |

| Comments |
Chimps have been observed to
interact through the barrier. If the windows are large, they do not allow primates to
hide from the public, or they may feel too exposed. |
| Frequency
of Use |
