On the two occasions we have visited Disneyland Paris we have stayed on site in the Disney Resort. Cheaper accommodation is available in Paris and its environs but the 45 minute train journey to and from the park adds considerably to your day. The journey home after the park closes (11:00pm in the summer) can be especially tiresome - a point to bear in mind if you have young children with you.

The Disney Resort Hotels, on the other hand, are located very nearby the park (most within walking distance).

There are 7 hotels in total.

Disneyland Hotel
The sumptuous Disneyland Hotel (luxury class) enjoys prime location at the entrance to the park itself with some of its 500 rooms actually providing a view of the park interior. This luxury class Hotel boasts a heated indoor swimming pool and health club.

Three first class Hotels are located beyond Disney Market (previously known as Festival Disney) situated around Lake Buena Vista - an artificial lake where you can rent miniature (2 person) motor boats.

Newport Bay Club

The nautically themed Newport Bay Club is styled upon the New England seaside resorts of the early 1900s and boasts a croquet field, heated indoor swimming pool and more than 1000 rooms including 15 suites.

Sequoia Lodge Swimming Pool

Across the Lake from Disney Market is the Sequoia Lodge, themed on the style of the American National Parks. We stayed here in 1997. The heated indoor pool, complete with water chute, also extends outside, which is ideal during warm summer days.

Although our main reason for visiting the resort was to enjoy the theme park there were occasions when the hotel pool proved invaluable. The day we arrived, Graeme had fun trying out the chute while we got some unpacking done. Two days later, after our trip to Paris, Hilda and Graeme both ventured to the pool again while photograph hungry dad headed back into the park to view the Electric Light Parade (again) and capture some night shots of Discoveryland. Our third and final visit to the pool passed a pleasant hour or so on the morning before we left on our journey back to the airport to catch our flight home.

Hotel New York

The third Hotel located beside Lake Buena Vista is the New York. As well as 574 Art Deco rooms including 36 suites, the Hotel New York contains convention facilities, a heated indoor swimming pool, tennis court, health club and The Rockefeller Plaza skating rink for use during the winter months.

All the above hotels are within easy walking distance of the park entrance however, Disney buses run during peak holiday periods to transport hotel guests to and from the park. The remaining two moderately priced hotels can be reached on foot from the park but it is a considerable walk to the furthest bounds of the Hotel Cheyenne or Santa Fe.

Hotel Cheyenne

The Hotel Cheyenne is a fun loving, Western frontier town with 1000 Wild West rooms located along Desperado Street and the Rio Grande River. A children’s play fort and Indian village are located in the town.

Hotel Santa Fe

Across the Rio Grande River lies the Mexican themed Hotel Santa Fe. We stayed here on our first visit to Disneyland Paris in 1992. Clean, comfortable, basic accommodation at an affordable price makes this an ideal choice if your budget is tight. The approach to the Hotel is reminiscent of a Drive-in Movie Theatre with "The man with no name" featuring on the Big Screen.

Finally, Camp Davy Crocket, located a few miles from the main resort is situated in a forest and offers over 400 log cabins with fully equipped kitchen, bedroom with en-suite bathroom, living room, TV, telephone and house-keeping services. There is also a campsite (for tents or caravans) with water, electrical hook-ups and toilet facilities. The campground features woodland trails for cycling and jogging (bicycle rental available); sports fields for football, volleyball and basketball and a large indoor swimming pool complete with water slides, a waterfall and children's pool.

For golf enthusiasts an 18 hole, championship course is located near the resort.
