The Story So Far...
Stuff from Superteens, Metrakit and Minimotos.

The story so far....
I started racing Minimotos when I was 7 years old. I remember it very well. A new Polini Carena arrived for Christmas and Dad thought it would be a good idea to send off an entry for the first round of the UK Federation Winter Series taking place in Warrington. We had friends who lived there at the time and so we made a weekend of it.

I was apprehensive about the race as I’d only been out on a Minimoto a few times at Kartstart in Kirkcaldy but once I saw the track the butterflies disappeared. I didn’t do too badly in the races and to coin a phrase I ‘caught the racing bug’.
My good friend Jason Mortimer also started racing soon after and we competed in the Scottish and British Minimoto Championships over the next few years. Jason is now living in Florida and is racing a Honda RS125 in the USGPRU championship.

My racing exploits so far have taken me to Ireland, Spain and Italy. It has been a fantastic experience and I have made many new friends through my travels both in the UK and abroad. In 2007 I stepped up to race in the British Metrakit GP70 class. It was quite a hectic year for me. I raced my Minimoto at the Italian Manufactures’ Championship in Milan and was selected for the Red Bull Rookies qualifying event at the Sachsenring. The highlight of the year was the Metrakit Festival in Valencia where I finished 7th in the B final.

In 2008 I ventured onto the big tracks and tried to do as much racing as possible. My main focus was the Aprilia Superteen Challenge (ThundersportGB) on the Kinpac sponsored Aprilia although I did compete in six rounds of the equivalent MRO series. I also managed to find time for few races at home in Scotland with the Melville and KDMC clubs and had a couple of rides in the ThunderpsortGB GP3 class (Thanks to Tom Paulo).

At the end of the year I was offered an opportunity to ride Peter Sutherland’s Honda RS125 in the final round of the Relentless GP125 Championship at Brands Hatch which gave me an appetite for what to look forward to in 2009.
