Censuses

1851 - The 1851 census for Warwickshire, Devon and Norfolk is available on a single CD from the LDS (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints). To order, view the LDS list of family history products.

1881 - The 1881 census for the whole of Great Britain is available on a set of around 30 CDs, again from the LDS (see above to order).  The 1881 census can also be viewed, free, online

1891 - A project is under way whereby volunteers are transcribing the whole of the 1891 census for Great Britain. The contents  to date may be viewed, free, online

1901 - The PRO (Public Records Office) have made the 1901 census available online. However, whilst searches are free, a charge is made to view personal details and details of households.  

Records of Births / Marriages / Deaths

IGI - the LDS have a vast genealogical database which is available online. Access is free.

FreeBMD - another volunteer project is also underway to transcribe all indexes to British Civil Records of births, deaths and marriages to an online searchable database. The project is not yet complete but the contents to date may be viewed online at no cost.

1837 online - this is a 'pay per view' site containing images of the indexes to births, deaths and marriages from 1837 to 2001, it may be viewed here.
