This section contains a number of pages showing how I have tried to do things.

A lot of these techniques are cribbed (and amended) from others. Major thanks go to Mark Drela, Phil Barnes and a host of other guys around the world who tirelessly answer questions from dummies like me :-)

You MUST check out the Files Section and Message Archive on the SALGlider list  @ Yahoo Groups for loads of good information (Phil Barnes' Wing Lay-up files are compulsory even if I've got a lot of them reproduced here)

The sections here are:

Instructions and Photo Sequences Tips and Tricks
Wing Cutting
I cheat, I have built a CNC Foam cutter (and that would need another web site to explain/discuss) and so can do a load of fancy things without cutting new templates each time. The section has pictures of how I cut at the moment.
Cloth / Gen Materials Handling
Tips on basic handling do's and don'ts and some e-mail advice
Carbon Rod and Tube Handling
Specific area on handling and cutting Carbon rod and Tube (Especially Pulltruded materials)
Wing Preparation and Bagging
Some top stuff here from Phil Barnes and some rambling from me.
Throw Peg Construction
The lightest thinnest throw pegs
Tail Cutting and Bagging
About 10 pages of words and pictures on how I cut, prepare, bag and hinge a DLG tail.
Control Runs and RDS Set-ups
E-mail conversation on Carbon V Wire control runs and installation tips
Boom Making
No activity from me here, I buy my booms so far but this section does have links to a couple of sites with good information.
Control Horns
The use of triple layers of Carbon Cloth to make horns with comments taken from Mark Drela e-mails
Fuselage
(Really a coming soon, but there are a couple of pictures of things I've tried but not quite got working properly yet). Current threads on the net have a 40-50g target weight for a fuselage with boom, wing hold down mechanism, but no tail surfaces or radio gear.
Tail Mounts
Information on building removable stabiliser (and fin) mounts.
