Prepare Lay-up Area

a.        Clear the decks, put all the stuff you don’t want away, etc, etc

b.       I use the board I’ve waxed on as the base for working. This is OK but you must be very careful not to put cloth pieces onto waxed areas of the board for fear of contamination.

c.        At this point you need to turn up the heat in colder climates!! 25 Epoxy on Heater.JPG (39983 bytes)
A room temperature of 19-20 Degrees C seems to work best for me. If it’s colder the work is harder (resin is thicker and so the roller picks up and moves the cloth rather than just spreading the resin around. Also the thicker resin gives heavier pieces, in a test I reduced weight by 1.5g just by working warmer (also make sure the epoxy is warm before you start)
