Here are the larger shots, I hope this page is not too slow to load.... 1) Mix the Epoxy on a plate (Phil Barnes technique). I blew it this time and
ended up with a sticky patch that did not cure. Luckily the bit I used on the
tails did cure... but be warned and mix thoroughly. 2)As always wet out the LE whilst you have lots of Epoxy and clean gloves. 3) Use the roller to put an even layer of Epoxy on the Mylars. 4) Carefully place the paper backed Kevlar on the wet Mylars 5) And here are the Fin sides going down. 6) Carefully remove the backing! It did lift a bit on me but if you take it
slow and pat any lifting/lifted areas down immediately it stays pretty much in
place. 7) Go over it again with the roller to make sure it is fully wet out. 8) The normal kitchen towel blott off with a hard roller. 9) Then lift the Mylars and trim the excess (just T.E.'s in my case) 10) Place the bottom skin overhanging the table and put the core on it. 11) Add the top skin and a couple of masking tape strips to hold it all
together. 12) And then pop it in the bag. 13) Here is the stab and fin both ready for the vacuum. 14) And finally under vacuum and supported in their beds, ready for 24-48
Hours or curing. << Back to Kevlar Weight Images >> Back Up to Prep' Cloth page |
