| In this epic duel for the accolade of "King Of The Decks" the main winners were undoubtedly the listeners.
Johnny 5, in a bid not to be out-tuned by "Spinmeister" Robert, threw down the gauntlet with some considerable gusto: not only by winning the toss to go first on side one (or disc one for cd listeners), but also by weighing in with what amounts to a signature tune! - "Who Is Johnny?" |

Hi Graham,
Both DJ's were great but, without bias, I have to vote for Jonny 5 on this occasion as I think he was much more "up beat".
Love to you both and have a Merry Christmas and a Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year.
Love
Lyn and John xx
Editor: For those of you that don't know, Lyn and John are Johnny 5's Ma 'n' Pa.

Hi Bro'
with regards to the vote for best DJ I think Robert just pipped J5 to the post. I think it was fairly close. Both played some good songs as well as naff ones too. Tip for Rob, please cut out the line dancing tunes!
(Editor: Actually Nige, I think you'll find that it was Johnny 5 who leant more on the linedancing canon for "Battle Of The D.J.s" !)
My vote is cast on first listening to the show, though I may change my vote on listening again
Nige.

......My vote for the Battle of The DJ's is as follows:
For out and out track choice it has to be Robert. Johnny 5 came a very close second apart from his decidably dodgy choices on his first set.
For overall delivery though the new boy did good. (Sorry Robert).......
Regards,
Aarron.

Then things went rather quiet for over a month until, in response to The Gobmeister's goading, the flow resumed...... :
5th Feb 2004 (John Harrison)
I score the competition as follows: both DJ's worked hard to create the overall feeling of 'Bonanza' / 'Dukes Of Hazard'. Rob managed to break free momentarily with a bit of something non-10 gallon hat in the Darkness, J5 tried hard to wrench himself free from 'achy-breaky heart' territory with a frankly dire Whitney cover (gentle jesus make it stop) although I found his theme tune humorous.
Therefore I vote Rob (also I laughed at the use of the Russ Conway tune)
| Robert | 4 - 1 | Stewart |
Some confusion then arose. Why? Because, with The Gobmeister having omitted to post Aarron's vote (see above) on the website when he should have done, Aarron sent this in:
10th Feb 2004
Does my first email not count then? I thought it was a very close run thing but I am going to pip for J5 as his set appeared to be a much slicker operation. Despite the few dodgy tracks!
Rob had a better selection of music (Just) and delivered in the manner to which we have become accustomed.
Both deserve a round of applause and a"big up" for their efforts. Perhaps there will be a rematch in the future?
Confused? You should be! However, wearing his Official Returning Officer's hat, The Gobmeister has ruled thus: Despite appearing to be a vote for Johnny 5, Aarron's vote is in fact for Robert. During "GobFM - Battle Of The D.J.s" it was made clear that the voting was to be for choice of tunes played.
The score therefore remains at:
| Robert | 4 - 1 | Stewart |
It was starting to look like a runaway victory for Robert. However, the voting continued thus:
14th Feb 2004
Hi there Your Majesty.
OK, I'll cut the crap. I vote for me because I liked my selection better. That's why I played them (lol). But all due respect and utmost admiration to my rival Rob (just not my vote because that would be silly now, wouldn't it?)
Yours rockingly,
Jonny 5
Very good Mr.5. Certainly nothing in the rules to stop you voting for yourself, even if you did leave it to the last day! Nothing from Robert yet though!
| Robert | 4 - 2 | Stewart |
NEXT?

Graham it took quite a while and several re-runs of the Battle of the DJ's Cd until I was sure who was to get my vote.
I have decided to vote for Johnny 5, who incidentally nearly lost my vote for daring to play Chesney Hawkes (Aaaargh!) do not let him do that again! Having said that I decided that J-5 had redeemed himself by going on to play the theme tune to 'Minder' what a classic vote winning tune to play.
Well done J-5 I believe you well & truly trounced the Spin Master. Better luck next time SM.
God Bless
Mark.

Ooooooooh it's getting close! Just one more vote came in. From Carly. Limping, battered, bruised, and exhausted from fighting dark malevolent forces which had temporarily rendered her computer comatose, she reached up and managed to attach this message to the leg of a passing carrier pigeon:
Hello Gobmeister,
I would like to vote for Stewart in the Battle Of The D.J.s, as I preferred the songs that he played.
I enjoyed listening to the choice of music that Stewart played.
Final score:
| Robert | 4 - 4 | Stewart |
So, there we have it! A draw! And the irony? If Robert had been bothered to vote for himself he would have won! Ha ha ha!!! Read it and weep bro'!
